Steamview cottage is nestled in the bottom of Esk Valley, right beside the tracks of the North Yorkshire Moors
Railway. During the day, the steam trains pass right in front of the house, and Steamview is one of the best
possible places to get an unrestricted view of them. The North Yorkshire Moors Rail Trail, goes right past the
cottage. The Rail Trail, is a very pleasant walk, which starts at Goathland station (2 miles away) and ends
at Grosmont station (1 mile away).
Summer 2005 saw the start of a trial service right through from Whitby to Pickering (stopping at all
stations in between), and now you can go from Grosmont to Whitby for the day - by steam train.
